The Black Band

Last week was a tough one. Over 7 peace officers were killed on the line of duty. One was executed while pumping gas. What threatening manner did he present? Was he abusing his power? Was he thrashing people of a different race around? Was he shooting at people when he couldn’t gone hand-to-hand? No. He was pumping gas. Shot in the back of the head and fifteen more times. Clear sign of hate and rage. A Trooper in Louisiana stopped to assist what seemed like a motorist in need. What do you think ran through his mind? That he could possibly die? That the person was waiting to ambush him? Without even thinking he was going to assist someone who he thought was in need of assistance not knowing about the persons race, social class, or criminal history. Instead he got repaid with his life being taken with the last words he possibly heard was “You’re lucky you are going to die.” Here in Michigan I had to wear the black band on my badge for …

Night Shift

Today is a rare occasion for me. I haven’t worked a night shift at my department in about a year or so. It’s a lot different for me comparing to the day shift. For one, the hours of course. They don’t really work well with me especially if I have been awake for almost 24 hours. Secondly, there are too many new officers on nights. Night shift is where everyone gets their experience in. It’s sometimes slower so you can take the time to learn your job a little bit more. I keep hating having all the newbies telling me what to do and how to do the job. It’s like since I haven’t worked a night they all think they are the know-it-all types. It annoys me a little. So I hopped in the cruiser and off I went. Trying to stay awake while on the road. It didn’t help that the roads were super icy and all I did was slide around everywhere. I started to dose off a little bit. Not good. …

Rivals

Well I took a very long break from this site. I was a bit too busy watching the news of seeing a town burn to the ground because of one action that an officer did that changed the world. This post may stir up a lot of mixed emotions in people, but I want to at least throw out my opinion (just like the million people on the internet who instantly obtained a law degree while sitting in a computer chair pissed off that they cant commit a crime without any consequences). Now obviously the continued “race wars” of America is still going on. Everybody is screaming racism and police brutality. That Officer Wilson is a cold blooded murder and that Mr. Brown was an innocent child who’s picture of a cap and gown posted around the internet is suppose to tear into the hearts of those who don’t understand the type of job a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and only see them as the street bullies they apparently are(n’t). Before I write this down, there is …

Judgement Day

Okay, okay… I know I’ve been gone way too long. I keep wanting to hop on here and just express everything that is going in my mind but work and other things have kept me way too occupied. So lets start from the beginning. Obviously Monday I was recovering from the biggest hangover in the history (at least for me). This whole week, so far, has been a test. My department is going through a fire arms evaluation. I had my evaluation Tuesday. The board I was being reviewed by consisted of one of the department lieutenants, the risk management team, some clinical staff, and a local Deputy Chief of Police from a very big neighboring police agency. As soon as I walked in the door the hairs on the back of my neck raised. Now I know that I shouldn’t get nervous. I was completely confident in my abilities to complete the evaluation no problem. But the fact that the Deputy Chief was a very large 6’2″ guy who looked like he’s always looking for …
